Ideal Heat Solutions received an emergency call from a South London college in January 2012. The boiler at their campus had overflowed on a Monday, causing downtime for thousands of students and staff due to attend that day. We were urgently tasked to fit a temporary heating and hot water plant. Within hours of the call-out, our experts were at the site and were ready to set up a short-term replacement.
Once we could get into the plant room, it was clear that a ruptured pump bellow had caused the problem. The London Fire Brigade removed all of the excess water from the room, before our specialist team could assess the damage and begin the installation of temporary 1120kW, 250kW systems and fuel tanks.
Our engineers put a short-term solution in place that provided enough heat and hot water for the entire college campus. We used a Hiab lorry to put the plants in place, and were ready to switch over their old systems to ours within four hours of arriving on-site.
Ideal Heat Solutions returned the following day to modify the pipes and hoses. It was the final step in the process, and clarified that everything was fitted safely, effectively, and would last until a replacement was sourced. Shortly after these adjustments were made, the college had a fully functioning temporary plant room.
Six months after our call-out, our temporary system had fulfilled the client’s needs, as Lambeth College had installed a permanent replacement boiler system. The plant room we fitted – complete with a Trend 963 Supervisor monitor – lasted the full six months without a fail.
